I was a bit hesitant at first when I saw the boat which was a 34 ft center console, but that all went away as this became the highlight of my visit to Nassau! The boat was very clean, (looks new), had a toilet and was equipped with electronics, and twin 350 hp outboards to move when you needed it. I would however recommend only two people to fish with the available room, still there is plenty of comfortable room at the bow if you have two or three non-fishing guests. I happened to end up being the only person, and it was a great one to one. The captain was Willie who was very friendly and very knowledgeable of the tackle, rigging, and waters to fish. There was no mate but he was great at multi-tasking. After about an hour-plus of only two strikes, we hit the jackpot and hooked four fish within seconds and the a fifth after reeling the first four. There is not a chair, but the fighting belt worked fine. All of the fish were Dorado, the largest being an 18 lb.male. I had a great morning and would gladly fish again with Born Free and make sure that I ask for Captain Willie!
I have chartered with Born Free before and the crews are always wonderful. This last time our entire family was visiting - total of 16 of us. 9 of which were children. Captain Nevado and First Mate TJ were phenomenal. Coordinating an event that you have previously raved about can worrisome that things won't live up to the expectation you set. This was not the case. Nevado and TJ made this an absolutely amazing experience. We had family members ranging from 70+ down to 2 years old. The crew was very attentive to all details of our family - and kept an eye on all of the swimmers at all times. When a parent would be looking for someone Nevado or TJ would tell them where the child was - this was amazingly reassuring knowing not only were all of the adults in the water trying to keep an eye out, but the crew were that closely attentive. We had a few destinations in mind which we hit - and then so many more surprises to keep the entire family excited throughout the day. Thank you Nevado and TJ for making this such a special moment on my family's trip to The Bahamas!
My family and I went on a private boat with captain Willie, and it was a blast. Great activities, fishing, snorkeling, and even got to pet pigs at lunch! Everyone got to do what they wanted. 10/10 recommend Captain Willie to anyone!
We had a group of 8 ranging in age from 11 to 73 for our morning snorkeling trip with Captain Willie. The snorkeling was outstanding! Captain Willie is very competent and extremely funny. Be sure and ask him about the first time he went to IHOP. Everyone got off the boat looking forward to the next time we can book a snorkeling trip with Born Free Charters.
Our family had a fantastic day on the water with Captain Herby and Mate Cleo. They took us to the best fishing spot, my kids caught a ton of fish. Then onto snorkeling and lunch at Rose island. It was a perfect day all around.
